Flac to mp3 on mac os x - what options?
« on: 17 Sep 2008, 03:12 pm »
Hi

Until recently I had been using an ipod mini modded with a 16 gig flash card.  I had put rockbox on there as I couldn't be bothered to convert around 100 gigs worth of music from flac to mp3.  However after a couple of months experimenting I've come to the conclusion that flac on a portable is pretty much a waste of time.  So I've bit the bullet and started to convert the stuff across.  Whilst I'm doing this I figured I may as well finally try and figure out how to use Itunes properly seeing as how I've got a mac mini and 320 gig hard drive attached.

Atm I am using the xact method of converting the flac to wav, then the wav to mp3 320kb.  I'm finding this quite a pita tbh.  Was wondering if there was a quicker way of doing it?  Also whats the best way of tagging files in Itunes?  Complete novice with the program and have tried to avoid it as much as possible!

Cheers

Hello,

Max will convert from FLAC to MP3/AAC (among a host of other formats).
