External USB Hardrive Directory Asistance Needed
« on: 15 Sep 2008, 09:03 pm »
Hi All,

I removed my Western Digital My Book external USB hard drive a few days ago.  It was intially given the F: designation by my computer.  While it was out of the system I connected a USB flash drive which then was given the F: designation.  With the USB Flash Drive plugged into the computer, without really even thinking about it, I plugged the External hard drive back in and it was assigned the G: designation.  But now I can't seem to get the External Hard drive to reclaim the F: designation when the USB Flash drive was removed.

I would imagine you can go into some menu section somewhere and change the external Hard drive from G: to F: or change the order of disk drives plugged into the computer, any ideas?

Thanks

Depending on what OS you are using? Right click on My Computer choose – Manage – Disk Management – right click on the disk you want to change and choose Change drive letter.

You may need to shuffle things around to get to the drive you want but that is what you need to do.
