Frybaby and speaker cable question
« on: 10 Sep 2008, 03:19 pm »
I just completed my Frybaby and I am ready to "burn"
I am not completely clear on how to connect speaker cables.

1) Should I do one cable at a time with the +ve connected to the centre of the"rca" and the -ve of the cable connected to theoutside of the same rca

2)when I do the "current" burn should I just short the other end of the cable or should i connect it to the other rca connector?

3)Can I do both speaker cables at once and then short them both together for the current burn with  + to + and   -ve to -ve.?

4)My speaker cables are DIY cat 6 with teflon insulation 8ft long and about   9-10gauge thickness and have not been used yet
What would you recommend for durations for the voltage and current burn?

1) Yes, you can do it this way.  Better to have one wire per RCA output.

2) Just short them together.

3) No.  Cables do not burn in parallel.  You can, however, connect them in series (daisy chain).

4) Hard to say.  Start with the normal recommendation, see how that works.

In reference to point #1  " Better to have one wire per RCA output."

If I am going to condition 1 speaker cable at a time when I do the current burn should I connect the cable to the other rca connector or just short the  wires together at the open end?

I'm thinking it is better to burn in both pairs at the same time.  In that case, daisy chain then in series using the alligator clip leads.  This way, whatever happens to one channel also happens to the other.
