Is this just in their stores? I can't seem to find it on their web site anywhere.

Yes, it was an "in store" special.

Maybe better to call ahead and make sure your Office Depot has the same deal going on.

Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Dave,
That's a good price.  How do they compare to Verbatim and other good brands?

Perfect timing. I'm just about out of my stash of black CD's, and plastic cases, and white out, and printing paper ... Looks like a trip to OD is in my near future.

Thanks,
Bob

The CDs were listed on the front page of the Office Depot advertisement insert in my local Sunday newspaper.

I haven't done an a/b comparison... just recently started using the computer for music after purchase of a large hard drive. From what I've read, they are supposed to be good... other gold cd-rs may be better but cost a lot more, like $1/each. These are only $.16...

Now I just need a USB > SPDIF adaptor to connect to my DAC.

Hey guys. I recently did an A/B comparison having read so much about how CD-Rs sound better than the original CDs.

I used dbpoweramp to burn all of them.

In every case (in my system, to my ears...) the original CD won.

I compared about six different major brands (Sony, Verbatim, Memorex...) and I did include Memorex black.

Of the brands compared, only Verbatim rose above the pack, coming very close to the original CD.  I found that the rest gave up (too much) detail in exchange for warmth.  Of the rest, Memorex black were one of the warmer - but certainly not the worst performer - that honor went to regular Memorex.

But there was honestly very little difference in the CD-Rs with the exception of the Verbatim. It was the Verbatim with the Light burning cover option.

I haven't heard any of the really high end CD-Rs.
