imac g5 problem
« on: 5 Sep 2008, 12:08 pm »
hi

my brother has an imac g5 and it doesnt stay powered on for more than 5 seconds and gives no vga output whatsoever. It chimes then shuts down.

does anyone know if its likely to be the power supply that is dead as the first LED lights and second LED lights.

or maybe the RAM needs re-seating?

thanks for any help here.

Power supply, overheating or a motherboard, I'm guessing.  Apparently, G5's (both towers and iMacs) have significant cooling problems.  My G5 2ghz tower died about three months out of warranty.  You might want to review the experiences of others here:

Good luck.  Cordially,
