Newbie mounting a cartridge??

My JVC QL-F6 turntable arrived over the weekend. I'll have to buy a headshell and cartridge- either the AT440mla or a grado green/blue. What else will I have to buy to mount it properly? Also, there are some sellers that have the cartridge already in a headshell. Would this be the way to go?

Twice in one night...gosh, as the Offical AT440MLa "pimp" I recommend this cartridge in spades. John will recommend the Grado and there you are, no better off then you were before!

Actually, I have been looking at the AT as an option (based on your earlier recommendation- thanks Wayner). My worry is that once I get a decent cartridge in, that without tools to mount it with, I won't get the best sound it has to offer. What pitfalls do I avoid if I buy it already mounted in the headshell?

Anyone can mount a cartridge into a headshell. Who says the premounted ones are put in correctly? I think we have enough "Masters" here to get you though setting up and aligning a cartridge.
