Nuforce P8 owners: Does the little red glass light up when power is on?

I just got a P8 off of audiogon for a great price that the previous owner swears is new. Ive turned the unit on and it works but the little red light on the left doesnt turn on. Is it supposed to?

The little red light is actually not a light, it is the receiver for the infrared remote control. Therefore, it won't light up!

thanks that makes me feel better. I basically got it for a song and the seller says its new with full warranty. so far so good. I have a little digital minisystem with an sb3 nuforce p8 and a teac digital amp as the only components. ill post pictures of the little guy when I get back.
