Hi James,

Is Bryston getting a new UK-specific website soon?

Btw have you had the chance to audition the new MB2i/BB5i’s yet? Any comments?

Hi viajaro,

UK specific - not sure what you mean?

No I am sorry I have not heard any on the new I series yet.  I will be at CEDIA in Denver next week and I believe PMC will have the BB5 rig there for me to hear using our CD Player, BP26 Preamp and amps.

Hi James, I read this on the pmc site:

PMC EXPANDS BRYSTON DEALER NETWORK
With the popularity of award winning BCD1 and the comprehensive range of highly regarded amplifiers, PMC have now established a dedicated UK Bryston dealer network. Stockists have been selected for not only their geographical location but also for their commitment to customer service and professional demonstration facilities. Currently there are now authorised stockists from Fife to Dorset with a comprehensive selection of equipment permanently on demonstration allowing greater access to the renowned brand with its astounding 20 year warrantee.

To increase ease of access to the Bryston brand, PMC will launch www.bryston.co.uk August.

Lol, well at least it's good news! Let us know how your auditioning of the i series goes next week.

On a separate topic, is there any point in getting the BP26 with DAC option if all I'll ever use it with is the BCD1? (the BCD-1's DAC should be good enough on its own i'd guess?)

Hi,

No need for the DAC in the BP26 unless you plan on having a 2nd or 3rd COAX digital source in your system.

James, were you able to audition the new MB2i/BB5i? If yes, are there any materially audible improvements to the previous models?

Hi,

No sorry I was not able to hear them- they had the Consumer versions of the DB-1i OB1i and EB1i on static demo I believe but it was in a large open space on the main convention floor.  The Active BB5/XBD system they were playing has not changed.

I believe Bryston were also exhibiting the new D zone amps? How were these received? Is pricing and performance similar to for example the 875HT?

Yes good reaction to the D Series.  We are introducing them as 8 channel Zone amplifiers to see how people like the sound.  Two models available at this point are the 8 x 130 watts and 8 x 250 watts which will be the first units released.

to clarify... are zone amps meant to be a one-box amp solution in a single room HT setup, or are these multi-room amps (e.g. using one zone amp to power ambient music speakers in different rooms of a house)?

Yes 4 Zones of Stereo is the intent.

interesting... i do currently have ambient speakers in all rooms of my house being run off a receiver... replacing these with inconspicous good quality mini-monitors or better in-wall speakers for a proper stereo set-up may be a nice idea... is this an integrated amp with independent volume control over the four zones, or does one need a separate 'zone-control' pre-amp to go with it?

These are just amplifiers.

just one more question, the phrase 'Level control on each channel' implies a volume control, right? so a single stereo pre-amp is all that's needed to run the four zones, with the 'level control' serving as the volume control for each zone?

Correct you can use the buss to feed all channels the same signal. You can only turn the gain down though not up.
