PCB Board designer?
« on: 27 Aug 2008, 07:18 pm »
Hello,
I am working on turning a schematic into pcb boards, but I do not feel comfortable doing that myself.  Does anyone know of anybody who does this, or can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi,

I don't know of a person that will do it for you, but watch the designing PCB boards videos here, and I think you will be able to do it yourself. They are VERY good videos (and free).

I'll check them out!  Thanks.  I'm not looking for a hand out, as I'm willing to pay for someone's expertise.  The only PCB designers I found on the net were more computer designers and didn't really know much about audio.  I figured it would be better to find a fellow audiophile to help me out since I know they would take time and care to make it properly.

Thanks West for the link.  I'll have to watch that later tonight as I'd like to understand PCB board layout better myself.  I understand the principal but there is a large gap between in theory and in practice.

Not to point you elsewhere, but I don't know many diy'ers on this forum that do much PCB layout work.  I could be wrong and they could be doing this on their own and not sharing here.  However, I think if you went to diyaudio.com you will find boatloads of diy'ers who layout pcbs.

Josh,
Thanks.  I have put a post over there as well.  So far, no response, but it's only been a couple of hours so far.

Thanks again,
Dan

If you use one of the more popular board houses, they supply you with free software that makes designing simple PCB's a snap.  Try:

You may be able to tackle the project yourself.

You might get more response if you mentioned for what purpose you intend to make a PCB.  There is a world of difference between tube amp pcb's and hi-speed digital circuits for instance.

I'm a pcb cad pro, have done pcb's since the 80's. If it a small job I might help you. You can check my home page to see how my boards look like. At work I have done a 475 A pcb! Those were placed in a class D amp which delivered 55 kA and 220 kW power... water cooled.. big ... huge. So if you are after something powerful I might know how you should do.
