TELEFUNKEN 12AX7 – EIGHT RIBBED PLATE

Have now tested these on my "Kaye Small Signal Tube Checker" (see explanation in a reply).  All were great.

These tubes are just too good for me to keep around, so I need to sell them to get other things.

If I cannot sell them as a group, I will split them up.

All tubes were tested as follows:

Weston 981 III – meter reading reported, per test settings on the chart that came with my unit.  Minimum is 1040 (65%), making 1600 the theoretical 100%.

Eico 667 - meter reading reported, test settings are a variation of the chart setting that came with my unit (Eico tester charts are notorious for incorrect settings).  Anything above 80 is in the good (green) region.

None of the tubes exhibited any interelement leakage.

Which tester is right (or even closer) – who knows.  In any event, there are a bunch of very strong tubes here, regardless of which tester you believe.

Eight Ribbed Plates - $300

Most of the printing is gone on these as well.  #1 is labeled Fisher.  All have diamond on the bottom.  With only a few exceptions, you could pick any 2 or 4 out of this group and be closely matched.

#1   Weston 981 - 1400/1550      Eico 667 – 100/100
#2   Weston 981 - 1650/1650      Eico 667 – 110/100
#3   Weston 981 - 1850/1800      Eico 667 – 106/106
#4   Weston 981 - 1800/1750      Eico 667 – 102/102
#5   Weston 981 - 1600/1600      Eico 667 – 98/96
#6   Weston 981 – 1550/1450      Eico 667 – 92/100
#7   Weston 981 - 1550/1450      Eico 667 – 98/98
#8   Weston 981 - 1500/1500      Eico 667 – 102/98

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please note that these tubes are being sold “AS IS”; however, I will guarantee against DOA.  I can provide pictures or info on request.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I CANNOT GUARANTEE (OR EVEN REMOTELY PREDICT) HOW THESE TUBES WILL SOUND OR PERFORM IN YOUR EQUIPMENT.  THE TEST RESULTS ARE ONLY PROVIDED AS AN INDICATION OF TUBE PERFORMANCE IN A VERY LIMITED (AND NON-IDEAL) ENVIRONMENT.  OTHER THAN AS SET FORTH ABOVE, I EXPRESS DISCLAIM ANY LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO THESE TUBES OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR USE OF THEM.

Money order/cashiers check/personal check preferred, but all must clear my bank first.  I also accept Paypal for convenience (but add 3.1% to the total).

Need some cash on these, but might consider a little trade for Russian/Chinese 6AS7G/6N13, 12AT7 (Telefunken, Siemens ECC801s or Sylvania GB 6201), or possibly some 6SN7s.  Feel free to inquire.

I am willing to ship globally but, outside of the USA and Canada, more stringent payment and shipping conditions apply.  In any case, the buyer is responsible for all shipping charges.

Please check my feedback on Audiogon, Videogon and Ebay (ID=baileyler) and buy with confidence.

Have now tested these on my "Kaye Small Signal Tube Checker".  All were great.

This tester helps to assess noise, microphonics, gain and distortion for preamp tubes.

All tubes were at least "low noise and microphonics", as would be expected for Telefunkens.  There were even a few that I could not induce a microphonic response at all, which is unusual for 12AX7s.  This is why Telefunkens are so desired.

On gain, every triode on every tube was in the 36-37 db range (spec according to the tester is 35 db).

There is also a test for maximum level of output to reach 10% distortion.  According to the tester, over 40V is OK, and the spec for 12AX7 is 50V.  All tubes were 50V +/-1.

All of this means that this group of Telefunkens are all good tubes, and just about any combination would match up well for most common preamp uses.

The eight ribbed plates are still available.  Willing to split up at this point, as well as consider trade.
