The DVP-NS9100ES is currently Sony's best DVD/SACD player, surpassed sonically only by their $3000 XA-9000ES SACD player, which has no video. I bought this on A'gon about a month ago with the intention of having it modified, but I decided to scrap the project. According to the person I bought it from, it was purchased from Crutchfield in 5/08 and I will provide the receipt he provided to me.
It works flawlessly on all formats, including hybrid SACDs. It plays CD, SACD, DAD, DVD, but not DVD-Audio. It's not broken - it just doesn't do DVD-A. Video-wise, it has all the outputs, including HDMI. For those not interested in video, it has a very cool "video off" button on the front panel. In fact, you can control all the 2-ch. audio functions from the front panel or remote, which is great, as you don't need a monitor to set it up if you only want to use it for audio purposes.
There is a scrach on the front left that is not visible at all in normal room lighting. You need to use a flash or shine a flashlight right on it. On request, I will send photos of the player in normal light and a closeup of the scratch taken with a flash. You'll see, it's invisible in normal room lighting. Other than this scratch, the player is in excellent condition.
