FS: Tact 2.0S Fully Modified $2900 O.B.O

For sale is a heavily modified Tact 2.0S preamp with built in DAC card. It is perfect for 2-channel set-up because you have a 4 critical features ALL in one: DAC, preamp, room correction, EQ.

I bought this unit brand new from Shane (HometheaterDoc) and he's an authorized dealer. This unit has one of a kind modication from Aberdeen Component, he did a lot of 'special' on the Power Supply and the DAC card, in fact, he kept improving on the DAC card mod and this is the 5th version of the improvement he made for me. He also did some extra thing like the magnetic jumper which improve the soundstage (more holographic, 3 dimensional).

The list price was:
Tact 2.0S preamp - $2700
DAC card - $500
Aberdeen PS & DAC mod - $600 + $375
Aberdeen Digital Input Mod  - $180
Aberdeen Motherboard mod - $900
Various other upgrades (DAC, jumpers, IDE cables) - $600

Total: $5855

Closer look at the 'special' DAC card:

Closer look at the Power Supply and the specially made magnetic jumper:

I still have the original power supply and the original jumper so you can compare the difference.

I have a quick check on the cosmetic and I can't find any major scratches on the unit, so condition wise it's a 9/10, but I would grade it as 8/10 because it has been modified and it's almost 2 years old.

I am selling because I'm going 100% vinyl now. After acquiring my first TT 4 months ago, I hardly have the time to listen to CD. I tried to 're-ignite' my passion for CD by auditioning some expensive CD players like Audio Research CD7, Esoteric X-01 but I don't hear any significant 'improvement' over the DAC card inside this Tact 2.0S. So I have decide to get some cash to buy more vinyls, I subscribe to MusicMatter and Analogue Production Blue Note Reissues and these LPs are $50 a piece! :duh:

I would accept Personal check and PayPal(+3%), buyer pays shipping.

If the asking price is met, I will also throw in a LinearX microphone - if you visit Tact user group on Yahoo, you would find threads where people testified that this LinearX mic is far superior to the stock mic. The LinearX mic cost $175 brand new.

Thanks for looking.
Barry

Pretty ballsy move, Barry.   :weights:  So what is your analog set up now?  BTW, you are still in edit mode for your system and can't be viewed.
