need a laptop for business
« on: 19 Aug 2008, 02:44 am »
I'm starting a new job and will need a laptop. Will have company software and videos loaded for customer presentations. I use Windows XP for my desktop at home and would prefer to stay with that rather than Vista. Screen size probably should be 13-15" and I need wireless. Budget is $700 max and I'd prefer not to go that high. Any suggestions on brands and discount websites would be appreciated. Refurbished would be fine, but not large dents or scratches.
Thanks
Nick

I'm somewhat curious - if this laptop is for work and will have their software on it, how come they aren't paying for it?

I will soon be doing insurance sales as an independent contractor, so all business expenses are mine to handle. I will receive a 1099 from them next January. I am trying to sort out if I a need a business name dba etc. Any suggestions about reliable, reasonably priced Laptops are appreciated.

PS top Double J ...the DEll  hasn't  been received by the local Best Buy yet..maybe by Thurs

Ah, OK, thanks :)

I've generally found IBM Thinkpads to be good - while I get Dells from work, my most recent laptop purchase for personal use was a refurb Thinkpad.
