I have to applaud the audiogon seller for his remarkable honesty. It probably diminishes his chances of selling it. After reading his story, I personally find the treatment from the manufacturer appalling, and if I were the US distributer or dealer, I'd dump the product line, if all this is true. It's unfathomable that a company can put a $7000 sticker on a product that is unreliable, then charge the customer for repairs that were never made, and take its own sweet time returning it to the customer. What unbelievable arrogance! I wouldn't pay $70 for this product. If somone does buy it after the seller's disclosure, the buyer is definitely getting what he deserves.
A while back, I bought the demo model of the GamuT D200 used by the Absolute Sound for its review from the distributer, and it had problems with the fuse blowing. The distributer paid for shipping and the repair, but when that didn't cure the problem, the manufacturer/designer stepped in
personally and asked me to send it to him in Sweden (if I remember the country correctly) so he could look at it. To make up for my troubles, he sent me an entirely new unit of the latest model that included several upgrades, all shipping paid for. Now that's what I call customer service!
PS: it is still the best sounding solid state amp I've ever had.
