Was just cruising the Business Tech news and came across this.

Toshiba America announced Monday its XD-E500 player with XDE technology -- that is, "eXtended Detail Enhancement." The company said the E500 is "more than just DVD up-conversion."

Fail.  Who cares?  SD is history, BD is the future.  The sooner Toshiba gets on board, the better off they will be.

I may just eat these words some day, but the sparkle is off this technology.  People can get pretty close to BD through cable or dish.  Times are tough, and buying the BD discs are pretty hard to justify when you can purchase a viewing for 20 percent of the cost.  Most people only watch a film once, and if they want to watch it again, it will be showing on HBO or on ABC by that time.
