Rachmaninov - cello sonata

With Gautier Capucaon and Gabrela Montero - Fabulous performance and recording. Just edges out the Truls Mork/Thibaudet benchmark edition, also on Virgin. The new recording has the edge in sonics, as well, but both are can't lose performances, and I will continue to listen to both. Capucaon's Prokofiev sonata has the edge over Mork's Myaskovsky's sonata since it is a superior work. Both discs also feature Rachmaninov's "Vocalise," in arrangements for cello and piano, naturally, but either of the Rach sonata performances are top recommendations. If ever a symphony was was written for just two instruments, this is it.

I'm a big fan of both the Capucon brothers (their Brahms recordings are outstanding as well).  I didn't know this was out, thanks for the heads up, order placed!
