If you love the luscious, warm, rich, textured sound that only tubes can optimally deliver, than you need to explore this Cayin line of gear. These 860 mono amps are hand-built and feature point-to-point wiring. Each of these monsters weighs in at over 40 pounds. This is classic, heavy-duty tube gear. 70 Watts (Ultralinear) or switchable to 38 Watts in Triode mode.  Voiced to match the classic sound of the famous Marantz 9 power amp.

Tube compliment per mono channel;
•   Four EL34/6550/KT88 are used for class AB Push Pull amplification
•   One 12AX7, one 12AU7 and one 6N6 are used in preamplifier section
•   Triode or Ultralinear mode by selector switch

Can operate with EL34, KT 88 or 6550 driver tubes to fit your needs.

I purchased these new early last year (2007) and have had significant upgrades ($1200) done after consulting with Sonic Craft and upgraded NOS tubes, etc done to them.
 
They are really sweet amps. I run them with my Modwright LS 36.5 and Merlin VSM-MMs. The Cayin gear is super quality bang for the dollar (point to point wiring, solid chassis, massive transformers, etc). You can find out more details at Acoustic Sounds website as they sell them and had them in one of their demo rooms with Harbeth speakers.

I acquired a factory schematic for the amps and worked with Jeff at Sonic Craft for upgrades consultation and parts (May 2007).  Primary parts upgrades;
[Sonicap Platinums x 2each, Cardas caps x 8 ea, Mundorf S/O caps x 2ea, Blackgate high voltage and bypasses x 14 each, Stealth ultra fast\quiet diodes for discrete power rectifiers x 10 ea, PRP precision resistors]
Parts Connection parts upgrades;
[Cardas GRFA RCA inputs, Cardas signal path wiring, Kiwame carbon film resistors, Mills and PRP precision resistors at all critical points]

Tube upgrades – NOS 6N6 RCA Clear tops, matched pair
Tube upgrades – NOS Mullard Blackburn 12AX7, matched pair
Tube upgrades – NOS Mullard long plate square D getter 12AU7 matched pair
Tube upgrades – Mullard reissue EL34’s, matched octet.

Total amps and upgrades = $4,645.

I have ~ $4600 (amps, upgrades, tubes) invested in these and will sell for $2950.  Just decided to include standard ground shipping in lower 48.

ONLY Selling due to purchase of new low efficeint speakers.  Changed out to 250 watt SS amps.
