Hi all,
Moving in a different direction with my system and thus am selling my very excellent sounding Van Alstine amps.  I've been bi-amping my VMPS RM40's with these to amps and they are great.  I do not have the original boxes but will make sure they are well packed for shipping.  I'd also be willing to include a couple of good NOS tubes for use in the FetValve for the purchase.

Prices are firm:

Fetvalve 550 EXR6 - SOLD
Omega III 200 - $300

In in Colorado and accept paypal as a form of payment.

Dang it Tyson, wish you'd reached that decision 3 weeks ago. Just ordered a new Fet 550, along with misc for a good system here in the office, as well as backup.   :duh:

Guess I'll just have to go down some MaCallan Cask Strength when work is done.  :o  Have no doubt they are pristine, but budget is busted.

So what direction are you heading, if I may be so forward as to ask ?

The funny thing is that I've been thinking about putting them up for sale for at least 6 weeks now, and finally decided to do it.

Going balanced!  Plus I need a preamp with remote control that does volume, mute, and source selection.  Were it not for that last bit, I'd be looking pretty hard at the new AVA balanced gear, but remote source-select is a hard-line requirement for me (and the family) to be able to source select from our universal remote control, and anything that doesn't offer that is a no-go for us.

Ah, Mac Cask strength very nice!  If you get a chance you should also try the Aberlour A'bundah which is (IMHO), even better in the "sherry monster" category!

Let's bring this back up front, see if we can get you some action.  :)

Yep, timing is everything. I'd have jumped on it if I hadn't already made my order with Frank. Would have made things easier in several respects. I'd have had backup in the amp dept to send in the Hafler 260EX for Insight upgrades, and still had quality backup power. Though technically I could always use my old Onkyo integrated, solid unit, has provided 20+ years of good service, just not quite the punch or quality of the AVA.

So what part of Colorado are you situated in ?  Next time I'm visiting my friends in the Springs I'll give you a head's up and maybe we can connect for a sip or two.

Have a good weekend, stay cool. That's going to be tough here. 93 Thurs, 98 yesterday, and forecast for 4-5 degrees more today, before the front breaks tonight & it drops back into the 80's. Will be nice when we get back to our usual rain & overcast, with temps in the 70s.

Tyson, have you ever asked Frank what it would cost to update the Omega III to newer status?

Never asked, as I was using it to drive my woofer section of the RM40's and they did a pretty outstanding job there.  Actually it's got a very nice sonic signature, slightly on the warm side, with incredible bass power and control.  It had no problem at all driving the 40's full range either.  I hooked it up w/out the 550exr6 for a while and was surprised/impressed at how well it did.

He used the albatross metaphor correctly. As in the gold for King Midas, a good thing in the wrong place and/or the wrong time may become a bad thing, and fables and folklore, as well as literature/poetry, often use such examples to illustrate that the wrong choices one makes in life are often followed by reminders, as you pointed out, that teach one a lifelong lesson. Sort of like syphilis I suppose...  :green:

I've got my new, fully balanced system in place now, and I need funds for a good tubed source, so the gear needs to go.

Good to hear you have the new system in place, hopefully you'll catch someone's eye this time around to your mutual benefit. You'll have to tell us all about the new setup when ready. Here's wishing a speedy sale...  :thumb:

LOL, I have no idea if you are serious about this society, likely a leg pull but I have no energy to check.

Reminds me of a movement some years ago by a certain group of heterosexuals to reclaim the word 'gay' back into its original meaning (as in: 'our nights were happy and gay'). They wanted a scarcely-used word to connote what gay does now, and someone suggested 'fabulous'.

So... how about 'dodo'? No, already means something else. 'Penguin' is relatively unclaimed...

Say Tyson, do you think your thread has been sufficiently hijacked by now?
At least it's staying up top...

kck - my apologies. Yes it was silly, no there was no hidden meaning. As I would have hoped he would know from prior exchanges with Tyson, the intent was only to keep it up where folks could see what he has to offer. I will refrain from such inane activities, even in the intent of humor in the future.

Tyson - apologies to you as well.
