Another great speaker for the 30.2
« on: 13 Aug 2008, 06:11 am »
Just got a pair of Eficion F200's in for review after the VSAC show
and have been really impressed.  We will have a full review
up on our website in a couple of weeks, but I have moved
them to my living room system with the 30.2 amp, Nagra
preamp and Sooloos. (with Channel Islands DAC/pwr supply)

So far, this has been an awesome match.  Using the speakers
with 24" filled Sound Anchor stands and ED speaker cables
and interconnects.

Very musical, fast and transparent.

These were the most intriguing thing I heard at the VSAC
show.....

(Yeah, the mega Bottlehead system was cool, but it won't fit
in my 11 x 17 living room!)

Anyone looking for another great speaker that matches up
perfectly with the 30.2, put this one on your list at RMAF!

Down to 38Hz , not bad. 88db sensitivity with 30wpc would work but it is pushing it.IMO.
When you are planing on running full review Jeff.???
Looking forward for your comments on these cool looking babies.

Cheers

I don't know if these go all the way down to 38hz, but good solid bass.

Review will be in the Oct issue in time for RMAF.

It usually isn't speaker sensitivity/efficiency that is the issue, it's the
way the speaker and crossover present a load to the amplifier.  This one
works particularly well with the 30.2!

Not all amps work well with all speakers...  regardless of wattage
efficiency ratings.

Agree. Some really bad choices are the common thing.........and shows are the perfect example.............not that I am in the clear myself...........we learn as we go...and sometimes it is necessary to take two steps back to realize and find the way to move forward......it is a necessary evil to try what works best for our ear and move in that direction in small, well thought out steps.

Cheers and thanks for the info on these speakers and other threads

Regards
Mariusz

PS

Vinnie mentioned that Tone Audio ( you Jeff) will review his new Isabella preamp.
And it was said that you might try your iTransporter as well, together with Isabella/Isabellina DAC. Are you happy with Wadia dock and its performance in general???
Plus I will be very interested in your evaluation in regards to Vinnie's new preamp.
As you know.....I am getting one in a week or two along with Isabellina DAC.

Cheers

The Wadia is awesome and I will definitely be using it as a source component
for the Isabella, along with a Sooloos Music Server, iMac and McIntosh MS750
music server.

Can't wait to hear what Vinnie's cooked up.

Nice line-up. ;)
If you like pasta, you will love Isabella.:)
Any idea about the amp or speakers that you will use to conduct your review..........yea , I know....I am pulling your tongue.

Whenever we review a preamp, we stick with most things in the system being the same
so you can judge the difference that one component makes first before moving on to
other things.

You can rest assured that the Isabella will get put through its paces with about
6-10 different amplifiers.....

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for posting your experience with the RWA Signature 30.2 + Eficion F200 combo.

Your fully-loaded Isabella (dac and headphone output stage) will ship in just a couple of weeks
and many are looking forward to your review in the October issue, including myself! :D

I will also send you the RWA interconnect and speaker cables.  You already own the 30.2 (such great taste!  :green:)
and I'm glad that you will try the Isabella with a variety of other amplifiers and the built-in Isabellina dac with
a few different sources.

Thanks again,

Vinnie

Hi kbuzz3,

Looks like they have server problems, because I remember viewing their site not to long ago: www.eficion.com

There were also mentioned in this 6moons feature (scroll down to the bottom):
http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/vsac08/vsac.html

Hopefully their site will be back up soon...

Talked to PJ today!

Poor guy, he's really getting jerked around by his hosting company....

Should be back up in a couple of days.  Man, that's terrible when
you are a manufacturer!

Glad he's ok.

Really good speakers!
