last minute question about the pagent
« on: 12 Aug 2008, 05:18 pm »
Well we are off to see Amos Lee tonight at the Pagent and I ahve never been there before and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations or tips for the venue?
The balcony is closed for the show and seating is general admission. We were told to go to the Halo bar as they get in early but the website says come early as the bar is small and can fill quickly. The show did not sell out.
We wanted to eat down there and wondered what you would recommend?

I know this is last minute and many may not have time to respond but any info is appreciated!!!

Thanks

Jamie

Jamie,

As for food, you've got loads of choices. If you've never been before, you need to go to Blueberry Hill. they have tons of 50's and 60's memorabilia. Its actually very cool. grab a burger, basket of fries and a couple of cold ones. Good stuff and reasonably priced.

After BBH, Riddles has good food and a nice atmosphere. Brandt's is good too, as is Fitz's. Literally you've got choices from Vietnamese and Thia to Mexican to Japanese to Ethiopian, and thats not all. Here is a list of the restaurants on the Loop. They are all good and fairly reasonably priced so it really depends on what type of food you feel like this evening.

Food, food and more food

All of these places are a short walk (about 1/4 mile) from the Pageant. My suggestion is to park in the surface lot behind Cicero's (free), grab dinner at one of the places (sit outside on the walk so you can people watch) then walk down to the venue.

The Loop is a great place to hang out and just be.  :thumb:

Thanks for the info Scott, we will try blueberry hill tonight for dinner.

Looking forward to a great night, the weather is beautiful today and the show should be pretty good.

I second Scott's recommendation of Brandt's.  There was a tapas place basically right across the street from The Pageant called Mirasol.  I LOVE(d) it. . .just Googled it and it may be closed now.     If not, I highly recommend it!!!

Oh, and if you do want to get a nice little area in the middle, close, etc., I do recommend going to The Halo bar relatively earlier.  My friends and I always get there early for good concerts there and get in the middle near the sound board.  Great view and good sound.

well just a quick update.

The show was great. Amos played a 90 minute set that was filled with soul, funk, blues and rock.
He is a great artist. The opening act (Prescilla Ahn)  was a delight, she was funny and a great talent. I wish her the best.
We ate a quick bite at Blueberry Hill and sat outside as the weather was great.
Walked the few blocks to the Pagent but was a little later than I had planned so though we did get seats, they were not stage center as I had planned.
Though the bar tab was higher than planned, it was a great show and a great night. Danielle loved the show and got to meet Amos after the show as he signed her CD.
