New painting

I think it's like 95% done.  I realize the foreground cliff and the icy waterscape don't quite add up as far as weather goes, but it looks better that way.  I figure I'll call it A Spell OF Frost (consistent with my naming of images after song lyrics) and that will explain the spring to winter issue.  I don't know if it needs any figures or not.  Or maybe the warm light is coming from a large campfire off screen from some sailors.  Maybe a ship on the water where the sailors came from?  Mmmm, was never good at drawing boats.

In any case I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I originally forgot to copy the image I was working last friday on to my USB drive and when I got home I was all ticked off, so I made this one instead using similar techniques.  It was originally much more grim and scary but it eventually turned into this ice thing instead of the fog and blackness.

I showed this to my daughter, who is planning on going to art school. She says "It's really good. Amazing. I can't believe you did ice, it's hard to mix the colors to make that look real. Your lighting on the trees was also really good."

She thought some frost or perhaps a clump of snow might look good on the ground around the trees to tie it together more. Or maybe put a critter, like a brown/umber mouse somewhere, looking out at the water.
