I'm in the process of building an Adire Audio Tempest sub in a 21.5" sealed box (a little larger cause top and bottom are doubled).  I'm trying to document the process by taking pictures along the way, which I'm posting in the gallery under Elektratig's Tempest Subwoofer Pix.  Today: Veneering with yellow glue and an iron!  Easy! Feel free to watch!

Thanks.  I only get to work on my projects on weekends, so it's a bit slow.  Hopefully I'll finish veneering this weekend and have a chance to apply the first several coats of Tung oil.

What is the brand of vices you used and where did you buy them?
What brand is the router and is the attachment on it a special type of attachment for veneer? Thanks

The router looks to be a DeWalt Plunge Router. The "attachment" looks to be just an oversized base to keep the router better stabilized so as to prevent tipping.

Harmon,

Bubba is correct: the router is indeed a DeWalt 2 1/4 HP plunge router, I think 621 is the model number.  I love it.  If I were in the market now, I'd also look at the new P-K 2 1/4 HP models (890?), which are just coming out to very good preliminary reviews.

I'm not sure whether the "attachment" you're referring to is the base or the router bit.  If the base, it's a Jasper Jig base, which I keep attached more or less all the time because I like the extra stability and visibility it provides.  If you're referring to the bit, I use a Whiteside 3-flute flush trim bit from http://www.routerbits.com -- pricy but superb.  I don't fool around with router bits -- they're spinning at 20,000 RPM!

The clamps are Jorgensen Cabinet Masters -- ridiculously expensive but an utter joy to use.  For Christmas and birthdays, I tell everyone I know who's going to be getting me a present to get me one, and I've amassed about a dozen.

I stole the iron from my mother-in-law.  I think it's a GE she bought at Walmart . . . . :D

Happy listening!
