Question regarding driver repair
« on: 7 Aug 2008, 03:45 pm »
I have a buddy who has owned a pair of Infinity Reference 5's since the mid 80s.  The surround on the 10" woofers have become unglued from the cones, however they remain well attached to the frame.  My questions are:

If the surrounds are sitll in good condition (which they are) would you replace the entire surround or simply reattach the surround to the cone?

If you would reattach the existing surround, what type of glue should be used?

Are there any other issues that should be looked at with these drivers?

Thanks,
Ed

I had a similar problem with a driver and the manufacturer sent me a glue and thinner for free.  i was able to repair the surrounds myself.

I would try glueing the surrounds first then see how they turn out.
