I read with interest the ST-70 almost having a cult status
There are many kits and modifiers ( especially the driver board) which start where the original
Dynaco ST-70 ends and offer to play in triode mode
But are they really that good? That they will sound (very) musical and will have a big soundstage
i expect. but are they transparent and do they have good pace and rhythm?
How is their midrange compared to highly regarded tube amps (SET)?
Or is their cult status merely based on good sound for the dollar as most will be between 500 and 850 dollars refurbished?
I ask this as i seek an affordable low-mid power tube amp (20-30watts) to power my midrange driver in an active setup.
