marantz cd player, no rca outputs...
« on: 4 Aug 2008, 03:57 pm »
my brother has a marantz cd player he got from his advertising firm for real cheap.
i was gonna try it out a long time ago but it doesn't have any rca outputs.

it has some 3pin outputs, i think they say "analog output" with a right and left channel.
there is a digital output and maybe one other output but no rca.

what cable do i need to use the analog outputs?
is there a cable that is 3pin on one side and regular rca plug on the other, then can i plug it into the line level on my preamp?

Sounds like you need a "Balanced to RCA" cable.

Don't think this is something you're going to find at Radio Shack.

There was a thread about this a few weeks back.
You need an XLR to RCA, as recommened by Jmpiwonka, not what Wind Chaser said.
Here was the adapter many of us recommended:
http://www.diycable.com/main/default.php?cPath=26_44_62&Cid=f776f14c3b7dab721892ce3c548454c3 (Comes in pairs, you can choose mail/female as you see fit for you gear)
The pair is not cheap, but it's very good!

Make sure that if you buy those one peice XLR-RCA adapters they are assembled. I bought some Neutrik ones from mouser and they looked ready to go in the picture but when I got them I found out I had to actually solder all the wires and put them together first  :duh:
