that next Amp,not again

:D  would AVA's 550 amp be enough power to drive a set of SP Tech Revs....the latest craze seems to be to have an amp with 5000 watts for 1/2 a second (spectron) or maybe have 200w class A draining the grid dry (Pass 100.5)....trying to pick that next amp is not soooo easy. with a little help from Mike, and you guys,we will get-er-done.... :D livin' in the sticks sucks in some ways

It's not that they can't be driven with less
But More is So Much Better and the Rev's will show it.

Thare are plenty of ways to skin the cat;
depends on budget, new/used, desires on the sound, green vs heater etc.

AVA 550 is probably a wash with the DNA-500, at least in terms of fortitude you seek.  Lots of happy campers with the Spectron and SP combo.  Frank had Theta Citadels last I heard.

It would probably drive the Revs fine, Pat.  I haven't heard any of the AVA equipment connected to SP Tech speakers, but I imagine they're at least sufficient.

FWIW, I just ordered a second Spectron Musician III SE Mk2.  It'll be a while before my system is up and running again because I'm having them set up as monoblocks at the factory, but literally everything I've read leads me to believe the combo will prove satisfactory.

IOW, I'm confident my search for cool running, low consumption, incredibly high powered, phenomenal sounding amplification has come to an end.

How's that for an endorsement.

Way to go Jim.
Just stack the Time Pieces for now as you dream of More to come!

2big.. Mail Frank of AVA, I think he has changes on his new Amps that
are sound significant, and that 4 channel fully differential system of his too.

Thanks, guys.  I actually spoke a little too soon about the monoblock set-up, because after speaking with Simon again, I've decided to use a Y-cord to connect them so as to have maximum flexibility.

Nevertheless, the second amp is ordered.  *THAT'S* what really matters.   :green:

And yes, those are strong words Pat, but they weren't typed in haste.  I thought about what I was about to post, and I'm convinced I've taken a big step toward ending my search for good (or for the next few years, anyway ).

DU, that should be quite a setup.  Out of curiosity, did you go for any of the upgrades, V caps or Bybees?

I hope Jim will not mind me speaking for him, but no he did not.

Congrats, Jim!  :thumb: You beat Ted and I to monoblocks  I very much look foward to you impressions.

Unfortunately, you and Ted still have a chance to get to the monoblocks first.  I received a call tonight informing me our house is sold, and since the upcoming move will likely tax our bank account, I've had to cancel my order.

I hate it when "life" gets in the way of "wants".  :(
