For The Second Time-The Count Basie Trio (Ray Brown Bass and Louis Bellson Drums)  Excellent recording and great Jazz.  This is a system tester in terms of PRAT.  Count Basie was a master of time.  The original Count Basie Band of the 30's was described by a reviewer as "and God said let there be Swing"

The Amazing Bud Powell, Vols 1-4 on Blue Note
Any Glenn Gould Bach - acoustics excellent, essential for any music lover
Any solo Leon Fleisher - a bunch of new ones just released on Sony
Any Brad Mehldau Trio - fresh meat for the starving serious jazz lover
Bill Evans Trio - Riverside recordings
Any Art Tatum, especially the new Zemph transcription
Beethoven Sonatas - new Paul Lewis cycle is incredible but bad acoustics
Schubert Sonatas
Ravel solo piano by Thibaudet

Tyson, have you had a chance to listen to the Zenph "rerecording" of the 1955 Goldberg Variations?  If so, what did you think?  The concept has me intrigued and someone on HeadFi mentioned that their new Tatum rerecording has binaural versions of the tracks too.

The Dinnerstein is good too.  I just love her "reflective" interpretation, very intimate; so listening to it is very relaxing and of course enjoyable.  Well-recorded also.  http://www.musicalcriticism.com/recordings/cd-dinnerstein-bach.htm

Not a fan of Gould - Hewitt is much better and has superior sound quality.

Most of Marc-Andre Hamelin's recordings are exceptional.  I have his Haydn and Godowsky recordings.

George Winston: Night Divides the Day: The Music of the Doors (2002)

One of the most moving album covers I've seen that exemplifies the music of The Doors,,,,, the piano play of George Winston's pretty good too.

For Jazz piano....this is the one...... :banana piano:

Have a look here.....

http://lostandsound.wordpress.com/2007/12/28/most-perfect-sound-from-the-black-forest/

 And from another article...
"One of Brunner-Schwer’s fundamental concepts for MPS was recording the piano in a way that made the listener feel as though they were hearing the instrument from the perspective of the pianist, not as a member of the audience."

A very good recording....by a great artist...Oscar Peterson.

Thanks, Wolfsama. That's a buy.  A personal favorite from me is Satie's Gymnopedies 1-3 as played by Aldo Ciccolini (EMI).
