I am selling my Theta Data Universal transport (Series II) to help fund an AVA DAC upgrade to the new Insight series.
The Theta transport is built on a laser disc platform and is massively built (i.e. heavy). The Series II was a power supply upgrade from the original where a whole new power supply circuit board was added which isolated the delicate re-clocking board from the rest of the unit.
The transport still functions and sold for over $2,000 when new and now sells for around $300 used. The transport door hesitates and often requires the open/close button to be pressed again to fully extend the CD (laser disc) tray. Apparently this is a known bug with the units. I have also recently encountered a few CDs that are not recognized immediately. The CD is then removed and reinserted in order to be read properly.
If you can live with the logistical annoyances or are comfortable with trouble shooting the transport, this is an amazing deal.
