I know there are some Bose-Bashers, so please, if you are, please don't read any further.
I scored a set of old, circa 1980, 501's for $25. They're in decent shape physically, but the woofers need new surrounds. Any input on replacement woofers or re-foaming them? Thanks.

There are lots of bose re-foam kits available on ebay.  I don't have any personal experience with any of them, but have read overall good things about some of them.  Might be a good place to start.  Just do a search for your speaker model and some should come up.

Heres a link on how to do it. Its really easy to do just take your time. Its not a rush job. Also I used gel type super glue on the dustcaps and got too much on them and now theres a white ring around the dustcap. Just giving you a heads up on that.

Im sorry I didnt clarify the set I did was a pair of Boston Acoustics. They were 8 inchers. The kit came with two pairs of surrounds. One pair for shallow cone and one pair for a deeper cone Im guessing. The kit came with shims, glue and replacement dustcaps. The new surround were the same style as the old ones so the went fairly easy.  I dont know what the Bose uses. Theres some Bose surrounds on Parts Express. If you know the size of drivers of the 801s, 901s or the 301s use they might be the size you need. You got a picture of the old surround foam from the side?
