On the subject of this feud.
I don't think it is a feud, it's only a part of the "compression wars".
JV has some years ago voiced worry about the ipod negative effect on resolution and that
the music industry seem to stop making good recordings all together...
So, analog, by nature has "resolution" , and digital has "perfect" math as he says it.
This is a slight kick towards REG, who plays the Violin... and should be very able to hear
what JV is implying...
This sarcasm mixed in with irony and no feud...
It's an angle of attack, defending ones views on the "format-wars" if you may.
After all this is a review, that end with an admission of the fact that JV does see REG's point about
digital isn't half bad after all.
JV then agrees and points out that he doesn't usually give two thumbs up for a digital component..
He normally thinks it can't really compete with analogue... but this DCS... oh that is to close for comfort.
Hence the start of the article.. that is sort of a war cry for analogue.. not against REG...
Yes? That's what I got out of it anyway.
