For level matching ahead of my DCX2496, I am using the Morley Ebtech level shifter;http://www.ebtechaudio.com/lls-2des.htmlTransformer based passive gain increase.
The smartest move is to use an outboard dac and just use it in the digital domain imo. I'm assuming the DCX has digital in/out like the DEQ does. With the DEQ I personally couldn't deal with using the inboard dacs which is what happens when you use the analog jacks on the DCX. It seemed hard sounding to me.
this looks really interesting:http://www.selectronic.fr/dcx2496_us.asp
The Guy I found goes back over 35 years and has worked for companys such as Theta digital , Madrigal, even Grummen Avionics electronics.I have been to a few modders in the past I was lucky to find this guy especially in the north east .He does not advertise ,if you needed something done at it's best this is the Ace but he has a 3 weeks average wait. The list is to long for all the things I have had done a 20% improvement was min but the Beringer is very cheap in parts quality if one of you guys needs help i what was done email me for the list is substantial, Joe.
I can tell you first hand ,an engineer that helped in my design going back even before Berenger to DBX this guy also does mods which he did not only my beringer 2496 but aso my dac and pre ,that was previously modded from a well known modder i won't mention online and found several ways to not only better it but to fix the flaws that the previous modder made in the signal path.
