The Dynaco FM-1 and FM-3 "Performance Pack" - Economy Edition - REDUCED!!

The Dynaco FM-1 and FM-3 tuners are truly remarkable pieces of audio electronics. In *most* cases, no test equipment is needed to align them to optimum condition. But if your tuner has seen some use, BEFORE you perform an RF/IF alignment, it will pay BIG dividends to replace the RF/IF tubes in order to achieve maximum sensitivity and selectivity (one area where these tuners need all the help they can get)!
In order to make this simpler and less expensive, I have put together the Dynaco FM-1/FM-3 "Performance Pack" which consists of the RF and IF tubes you need in order to get the MOST out of your tuner. This "Economy Edition" consists of (one) 6AT8, (one) 6AQ8, (our choice of manufacturer) (two) Philips JAN 5749W "ruggedized" versions of the 6BA6 and (two) Sylvania JHS 6AU6WB, all for only $30.00 plus shipping. Add a new 6V4/EZ80 rectifier (again, our choice of manufacturer) for $5.00 more (HIGHLY recommended)! All tubes are New Old Stock. NO Russian or Chinese tubes here. These are NOS American or European tubes. By allowing me to select a "less collectible" manufacturer for the RF tubes and the rectifier, I can pass the savings on to you while still providing you the best IF tubes for optimum receiver selectivity. If you order before the end of July, I'll throw in a NOS 6BL8 for only $5.00!
(July 18, 2008 Note: The "less collectible" 6AT8's are now gone, so the "Performance Pack - Economy Edition" has been upgraded to include an RCA, GE, or Sylvania 6AT8 (our choice). There is no increase in price. In fact, the price has been reduced by $20.00. Get 'em while you can, folks!)
Want something a bit better? The "Performance Pack - Deluxe Edition" consists of the same IF tubes, but substitutes a NOS RCA, GE or Sylvania 6AT8 (YOUR choice - while they last) and a NOS Amperex 6AQ8 for the versions in the "Economy Edition" all for a price of just $50.00. Add a NOS Amperex EZ80/6V4 rectifier for just $25.00 more. If you order before the end of July, I'll throw in a NOS 6BL8 for FREE! As they say, "quantities are limited!"
FM-3 owners! If your EMM801 has dimmed to the point of uselessness, it is possible that you *may* be able to "squeak" out a few more months by replacing the EZ80. When the EMM801 is nearly used up, it becomes EXTREMELY sensitive to low B+ Voltage in your tuner. Replacing your EZ80/6V4 may increase the B+ Voltage to the point where the EMM801 becomes useful again. (At least, for a *while* anyway). If that doesn't help, NOS Telefunken EMM801's ARE available, starting at just $55.00 each in plain white boxes, or $65.00 for the few I have in original Telefunken boxes.
I hope I can be of service to you.
Sincerely,
Bill Thomas
Note: This ad was updated on July 15th, in order to include the addition of the 6BL8 tube offer. (You really *should* make sure your 6BL8 is in top condition before aligning the Stereo Multiplex adapter board.) It was also updated on July 18th to show the "upgrade" to the "Economy Edition's" 6AT8. Pictures follow below. It was updated again on July 23 to show the reduced prices.

Here is a picture of the tubes supplied in the FM-1/FM-3 "Performance Pack - Economy Edition."
And here is a picture of the optional tubes that are available for a reduced price when ordered with the "Performance Pack - Economy Edition."
Remember, once these tubes are sold, I will not be receiving more. Thanks for viewing! (Sorry the pictures are a *bit* crooked)
Sincerely,
Bill Thomas

I've got some GOOD news (for a change)! I have been going through my vacuum tube "stash" and found the rest of my 5749W's and 6AU6WB's - a pretty decent quantity! This will allow me to REDUCE the price on the FM-1/FM-3 "Performance Pack - Economy Edition" by $20.00! Not only that, I have also found additional RFT EZ80/6V4 rectifiers, so I can reduce the price on them as well. I have updated my original ad to reflect these changes. To those of you who already *bought* a "Performance Pack" at the original price, I will refund the difference.
Who says NOS tube prices always go up?
Sincerely,
Bill Thomas

MORE good news (of the most generous kind)! Frank Van Alstine contacted me and has graciously offered to let me include a copy of his ESSENTIAL article "Keeping the Dyna FM-3 Working" (from the November 1990 issue of "Audio Basics") with each "Performance Pack." It is a "no-nonsense" guide that covers EVERY facet of the FM-3's weaknesses, and how to overcome them. Most of the information also applies to the FM-1 Mono tuner. There is no finer, nor more concise guide to help you keep your tuner in peak condition available anywhere; on the web, or off. Of course, it is still available on the web at Frank's website:
www.avahifi.com
, but a hard copy is always more useful when you're trying to "bring one back from the dead."
My SINCEREST thanks for your generous offer, Frank! Along with my deepest appreciation for making the most out of Dynaco's original products, for DECADES.
Sincerely,
Bill Thomas

I have about 20 of the "Economy Editions" left and about 10 of the "Deluxe Editions" left. If you have a Dynaco FM-1 or FM-3 tuner, here's a chance to get a spare set of the tubes that make your tuner PERFORM! Get 'em now at TREMENDOUS savings!
Don't wait until you NEED them, only to find out you can't GET them anymore at these prices. Save money by buying now!

I just wanted to remind you Dynaco FM-1 and FM-3 owners that I still have a good supply of tubes for your tuner. If your tuner's performance is beginning to fade, here's a chance to buy all the tubes to "bring it back from the dead" at a TRUE bargain price. BEFORE you attempt a full alignment, (which I HEARTILY recommend) it will pay you to start with a set of brand new tubes first. Also remember that I have NOS EMM801's available if yours is "gettin' dark." Just e-mail me for details.
Sincerely,
Bill Thomas

I'm bumping this up because a few folks have contacted me in the past few days wondering whether I still have tubes available for the FM-1 and FM-3 tuners. You BET I do! If you picked up a "cheap" FM-3 from eBay and you've found that tubes are weak, dead, or "missing in action", I would be happy to help you "put things right." The "Performance Packs" are designed to replace all of the RF/IF tubes in an FM-1 or FM-3 tuner at a truly "reasonable" price. (I know it may seem silly to spend more on tubes than you paid for an entire Tuner, but the results are WELL worth it!) I still have good stock of those EMM801 indicator tubes as well. Just contact me at
nostubesforyourdynaco@gmail.com
, and I'll take care of the rest.
Sincerely,

Just a reminder, if you're looking for the necessary tubes for your Dynaco FM-1 or FM-3 tuner, I can supply them for you. Quite a few folks have already bought theirs. If you're thinking it over, just remember that this offer will only last until my stock of available tubes is gone. I still have several sets left, but who knows what tomorrow will bring? Just e-mail me at
nostubesforyourdynaco@gmail.com
and we can discuss the details.
I hope I can be of service to you.
Sincerely,
Bill Thomas
