The Rapide now has a little brother, the Mercury compact monitor. Perfect for smaller rooms as a ported full-range monitor or available for use with a subwoofer or in a home theater as a sealed version, the Mercury has a smooth low-distortion sound that you can listen to for hours. While many people associate a metal dome tweeter with harsh highs, the Mercury is smooth as silk with just enough sparkle to make all of your great recordings shine.
The Mercury is designed around high quality drivers from Seas of Norway, the ER15-RLY 5" woofer featuring a reed pulp infused cone and the 27TBFC/G Aluminum/Magnesium dome tweeter. The crossover features air core inductors, metal oxide resistors, and Clarity Cap SA series capacitors. Parts like these aren't normally found in speakers in this price range, but I'll save that for the end.
To keep the cost as reasonable as possible the Mercury utilizes the Parts Express compact curved cabinets and is available in piano black, cherry, or maple finish all with a black baffle and magnetic grille. We treat the cabinet heavily with constrained layer dampening to reduce resonance and produce excellent vocal clarity and bass definition.
Bass response for the ported version is -3db at 60hz, and the sealed version is -3db at 95hz. Power handling is 110 watts and sensitivity is 86db.
