Anime - Samurai - Swordfights  - Hip Hop.  What's not to love?

Not quite as coherent as Cowboy Bebop, but still very enjoyable - a good contender.

Maybe not, but the visuals are more intense and the story moves faster.  Bebop is a fun ride, but Champloo is more cool.

I didn't think there was much of a story until the last episodes, whereas Bebop had a much more deliberate overarching structure.

Anyway, yes, Champloo was more cool.

More Hip. :hyper:

fwiw I'd say they were both equally cool, in different ways. Beebop more like a series of short stories, Champloo like a novel, though had to catch it from the start to realize that. If you haven't checked out the Beebop movie, do. Very well done.

Sword fights - check out Bleach. Simple swords pale in comparison to 'zaam-pok-toas' (sp). Of course we mere mortals cannot wield the latter.

Offered from one who still thinks Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris & Natasha are still fun.

On a side note - Tyson; Scapa, 14 yr, Single Malt, Ornkey brew- med color, very smooth, light taste (too lazy to jump threads)

Scapa 14, very nice, I get a lot of pineapple (Psyche reference!)

On Champloo, is it just me or did the quality of the animation drop off as the series progressed?  The first few episodes seemed to be very well drawn and that got worse in the middle?

Absolutely, it did drop off in quality.  Many higher quality anime exhibit this characteristic.  I guess the main animation team couldn't keep up.
