MEMO: To all Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Bryston B100 SST Product of The Year 2008

Hi All,

Please see below regarding an AWARD from Electronic House Magazine for the Bryston B-100 SST Integrated Amplifier.

“Hello James,

I am pleased to announce that Electronic House magazine has chosen Bryston's B-100 Integrated Amplifier as one of its Electronic House Products of the Year for 2008.

The winners of this year's awards will be featured in the September Issue of Electronic House magazine, which will be distributed to thousands of attendees at CEDIA Expo as well as to our subscribers and on newsstands everywhere. In addition, your product will be featured on electronichouse.com for one full year. We expect 1.5 million page views in September alone!

The editors of EH Publishing’s four magazines that are dedicated to the electronic house all choose their favorite products. It is a democratic voting process. And although it’s fun, this has got to be one of our most difficult jobs. Our decisions are based on reviews we ran throughout the year, product demos, and talking with the installers and users of the products. New products are judged on the promise of features that we feel will be great. Sometimes we nominate a product that had not been entered by the manufacturer because of our personal experience.

Topping our list of criteria is technological innovation, combined with overall value—and just plain outstanding features.

Congratulations!

MEMO - Bryston Customer Feedback
SUBJECT – Bryston B100 SST Integrated Amplifier

Great feedback from ‘Thiel Loudspeakers’ regarding our B100 SST Integrated amplifier.

“Hi James,

I hope you don't mind, but we did some listening on the B100 while it's here before shipping it back to you. It is one helluva integrated amp. Furthermore, having the DA and phono both built in is a major convenience, and it's quite obvious that the inclusion of each is not an afterthought. The clarity, power, and presence that I appreciate your gear for is all there. It's quite a gem. It pulled phono stage duty at CEDIA for us.

We had originally intended to use it as a backup at the CEDIA Show in case the (*****) blew up (and I'm wishing now I had put it in play), but we did use the phono stage via the tape outs into our unit and were really pleased with it's performance.

Thanks again for the last minute loan of it. It was a lifesaver and a great pleasure.”

Best regards,
Gary Dayton

Its as if Gary took the words from my mouth! Just my thoughts of the B-100 with phono and DAC. :D

Pity I sold my Thiels before my Bryston purchase. I just could not find an amplifier that could wholly satisfy the Thiels!

Congrats James!

Best Regards
Dennis

Dear James,

Please find the attached file with the test of the B100 SST in Hitech Magazine in Greece as it came out today.
I have the full review in a PDF if required - email me at jamestanner@bryston.ca

Here’s the closing statements:

“The Bryston B100 SST is an attractive solution for those who seek an integrated amplifier with lots of features and ‘absolute’ audio performance.

It is a representing creation of Bryston, a company of illustrious history, and is distinguished for its special musical cast of features, and for its excellent accuracy to any musical work.”

Denjo, what is that green "arrow" thing on the volume knob on your amp??

Hi Niels

Hope you are doing well! Its actually a blue sticker (from a label machine) which allows me to better appreciate the volume setting. I have found that the Bryston allows you to crank up the volume while the music flows effortlessly and before one knows, its past 12 o'clock! From my listening chair, without the sticker and my failing eyesight, I don't have a sense of spl levels until the neighbours come knocking!

Keep well, Niels and thanks for your advice of the B100! Its a wonderful amplifier!

Best regards
Dennis

Dear James,

Please find attached article from Audio Video (1/2009) - the Polish HiFi / Hi End Magazine.

This is "cover story" Bryston BCD1 and B100 SST and PMC OB1i.
The test is very, very positive.
Reviewer was very impressed.

Conclusion in English:
"This audio system is really surprising, since there is nothing "forced" in its sound - to be honest, the real power of this set-up lies in its modesty and elegancy. It has the powerful ability to adjust itself to simply every sound you will play. The specific charm leaves us just with magical aura of the sounds we hear, while the whole system is left behind. That's why it's so specific, since we can fully enjoy the music we hear."

Hi Niels,

By Sony standards I would say no but by Bryston standards it has been a great addition. We are up to about 700 units at this point.

He-he. No reason to compare with Sony, its like comparing Toyota with Aston Martin.
Mine is no: 198 and is the unit the norwegian magazine "Fidelity" borrowed for their test.

Hi Mr.Tanner,
my B100-SST is serial number B100-000461
does is mean that only 460 units were build before it or it is the number of units built in the year?

Congrats on the continued success of the B100 James!

For the B100 owners out there, I have a question please.  We are considering ordering and giving a B100SST-DA to our young-one graduating high school, since it is getting such great feedback and has a 20-year warranty (should see them through college and well beyond).

The question is, does the unit run very hot, and/or does it require much ventilation?  :?:

Among other things, this will help us decide whether or not to also purchase a dedicated shelving unit to accompany the B100 and other gear...

Thanks for any/all replies!  :)

Hi Newbuyer

Good choice!

The B100 SST makes for a wonderful heirloom. I am glad you are considering the built-in DAC because it is very, very good and will even make a cheap transport sound good. Yes, the B100 does get hot and in my tropical clime even the faceplate will get hot. But, that is when the B100 sounds best! The heatsinks are pretty efficient at keeping heat within tolerable bounds. Just make sure the unit has at least 3 to 4 inches around it to allow for proper ventilation. And, open shelves are better than housing it in a cabinet.

Best Regards
Dennis

Ps, now your son will have to find a summer job to save for the remote! Its one jewel of a remote, the best remote I have ever seen!

hi, Newbuyer!

don't forget that there is the new BR2 remote available. i think that it is almost at the same price range like the B 100's remote but is a bit more versatile...just if your son is going to buy other Bryston components in the future ( and he will...).
