Replacement for Wima Caps

Looking to upgrade some 1uf/250vdc Wima MKP4 caps, which are used
to bypass the output stage caps(5400uf/63vdc).

Any recommendations?

kana813, what piece of gear is the power supply in that you are modding.
Where are the WIMAS located.  How much room do you have for a larger cap. What aspect of the units performance are you trying to enhance.

Scotty-the Wimas bypass the output stage caps(5400uf/63vdc) in an amplifer, not a power supply. There's a little bit of room for a larger cap.
I want something that faster sounding with more impact then the Wima, and better deep bass.

kana813, Well you've stumped the chump. I can't figure out what type of amp it is. My WAG is a OTL tube design and these are output coupling caps. Yeah I know I'm wrong, please tell me what type of amp it is.

Scotty- it's not a tube amp, but yes they're output coupling caps. You're not a chump and I'm not trying to mess with your mind, I'd just prefer
not to post the amp maker, just yet.

I know from past experience the Wimas are not SOTA, and I feel a 1uf bypass on a 5400uf bank may not be enough, but I'm not an expert and I haven't played around with all the caps that are currently available.

Aloha,

Kana

Auricaps and Hovland MusicCaps are said to work well. I am using Hovland
MusicCaps in my DIY loudspeakers for the xover and I am using them to bypass the Jensen storage caps in my power amp. I have been impressed
with the naturalness of their sound. Things sound more real with these caps. I used an 8mfd at 100v. on the amps power supply to good effect.

I swaped out the Wima coupling caps in my tube preamp with Auricaps. They are 1 uf 600v. Very pleased with the results-tighter, more defined bass is the most noticable improvement.
