I believe this is part of the Platinum upgrade that Steve offers for the 500, so I would think it is worth while to do.

Steve told me personally that he does the fuse replacement, and i think he said they are part of his unpublished mod/update.

Regardless....from his email to me on 9/19/07:
"Hi Ted -

Yes, I do like the fuses, and they will sound good in your DNA-500.  I have re-fused a couple of 500s now, and the owners were quite pleased with the result.  On the other hand, it takes a total of 13 fuses (!) if you re-do the entire amp, and they aren't exactly cheap.  If you want to try just one, start with the external AC Line fuse on the back - you can use a 15A slow-blow (large).  That will give you some idea of what to expect.  Beyond that, the main rail fuses are the most important, and there are 8 of those (4 per side).  They are 10A fast-blow (small)."

Yes, I had my DNA-500 all 13 fuses replaced with Hi-Fi Tuning fuses 5 months ago. They worth every penny! To me, it almost like an amp swapping. However, all the fuses required 200-300 hors brewed. Be careful, some fuse positions are not easy to access and the sound is really bad at beginning.

I haven't tried the boutique fuses but I have applied Silclear to all of them, in my DNA .5 rev A. If you want to try a less expensive route then get some Silclear, or one of the other silver paste's and apply to the ends of each fuse. Yes, it does make a difference for the better.

Enjoy,
Bob
