Furutech Ag-12 Phono Cable
« on: 4 Jul 2008, 04:50 pm »
Just curious if anyone has tried this cable yet.  Marc Mickelson has reviewed it from Soundstage's Vinyl Word.  It's a relatively new design but I am hoping for more opinions before I pull the trigger.

I've got it here and am very happy with it, actually bought a 2nd one for both
of my SME tonearms.

Definitely more definition and clarity over the standard SME cable and only about
400 bucks.  A winner in my book!

I guess lower noise and increase resolution is all you can ask a cable to do.  Anything else is just a tone control.

Try Music Direct.  They are a Furutech dealer.

Pretty sure you have a 15 day trial on that stuff with
them....

What are you plugging it in to?

table is raven one with graham phantom and dv xx2 mk ii.  phono stage is aqvox 2ci mkii.  historically listeners had bad things to say about silver plated copper.  but this is the first application i know of under the phono parameters, i.e. low voltage tiny signal decent current.  the other issue is that i need din to xlr so not sure if the trial works for me or not as the cable will need to be customized.

I hear you!

I've always been skeptical of this combination myself and was very (happily)
impressed.

That's why I suggested Music Direct, so if it's not your cup of tea you won't
be out of luck.  But I'm using a Raven Two, Dynavector XV-1s on one
arm and Lyra Skala on the other with great results...

Let me know what you end up thinking.

DucatiRider, Just be aware that the Graham DIN connector is oriented 180 degrees different than the SME DIN. Mention you own a Graham Phantom and hopefully Musicdirect will send you the right cable with the correct DIN orientation.
