What's your favorite piece of 12 - 24 month old equipment?

I asked a similar question in the 2-channel forum and its great fun to read of the range of responses, but based on the responses I realized that I hadn't asked the "right" question.

We've all read of "products of the year" from all sorts of organizations that are soon forgotten. I'd like to separate the flash in the pan stuff from the good equipment that's still available as new.

In order to get a feel of what relatively current equipment is still enjoyed after the honeymoon, I'd like to find out what folks here are still currently using that they love after 1 - 2 years.

I realize that much built even 18 months ago is no longer made, but hopefully the manufacturer is still around and building even better stuff now.

A year ago I bought some Revel F30's. I'm still amazed at what they can do. Lots of detail, punchy, lively, yet natural at the same time. I love 'em.

My preamp still sounds sweet and it's been in my system about 2 years... a modified Audible Illusions 2-d. There is magic in this preamp but, it will be replaced by an AKSA GK-1 some day... to match the amp. But, now I'm getting to the 'less than a year' stuff...

VMPS RM40's, still the best pair of speakers I've heard, and certainly the most flexible for room placement and tweaking to personal taste for overall sound.

Next would be the AVA T7 and 550ex, no desire to shop around for something else.

And I also have to give props the the Mensa DIO, I just can't find anything I like better.

I would say my VMPS RM40 loudspeakers- put a smile on my face everytime I listen. I must cheat here a little- although I have not owned it for more than about 4 months, I think the most incredible product I own is the Placette Audio Remote Volume Control. System matching is critical (it's a passive device), but until your hear what 126 discrete volume steps using the Vishay S102 metal-foil resistors can do to your system.....

My Odyssey Stratos. It just sits there and makes music, follows any change I make in my system and reveals another level of performance.
