I hear you about the different strokes, I'm sure some of the stuff i listen to some people wouldn't even consider music or bad music at that. One of the guys i work with is a drummer and a huge Phish, Wide Spread Panic fan. We have had this conversation many time wev'e traded cd's several times. I'll have to dig those cd's out and give them another listen

different strokes for different folks.
Mike's bass playing and jamming gets me off like almost nothing else.
Trey was they one that went to jail for opiate possession. His addiction was a major factor in the break up of Phish. Hopefully that monkey is off his back. I am looking forward to the reunion. I have lots of friends in the industry and they have told me that the Phish organization is recruiting the crew for summer 09.
Either way Mike's solo stuff is amazing imho
idk.. The Grateful Dead for instance.. their music encompasses jazz, blues, folk, traditional, experimental.. and goes through several other genres. There are strong jazz underpinnings going through most their music. Jam Bands are a bit free form, to me its really about a musical journey, kind of similar to classical music... you follow Jerrys gutar work, listen to the build, collapse, crescendo.. its intoxicating in itself. hehe.
Thats why I can appreciate the jam scene.
