Grill Cloth Attachment Question
« on: 30 Jun 2008, 03:26 pm »
I am finishing up on building a pair of AV-3's,but have a question regarding the best method for attaching the griil cloth to the grill frame. Normally I just staple the grill cloth to the back of the grill frame;however, since the AV-3 frame is rather thin at the top and bottom I don't think stapling would be the best method to use. I have also used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive in the past, but found that it has a tendency to loose its adhesiveness over a period of time allowing the cloth to start pulling away from the frame. Does anyone have any recommendations as to other attachment methods that might work better?

I've used contact cement.

The easiest way is to use spray adhesive (contact cement). Simply dry fit the grill cloth over the frame to find out where to apply the adhesive and then make a cardboard pattern to fit on the cloth as not to get any adhesive on the visable area.

Thanks for your suggestions regarding the grill cloth attachment. I have already attached with some spray adhesive and it seems to be holding just fine.
