Lessloss power cords
« on: 28 Jun 2008, 03:30 pm »
I previously posted on Audio Circle on where to use these power cords.  I have now tried them on my Nuforce 8.5 amps, and conclude that they are a must-have(see my previous post for equipment-although I left out my Oritek X-2 that I use between transport and preamp/dac).  So, if you have the one-year special pricing on the Lessloss, and pc's that aren't the equal of the Lessloss, I recommend buying them for transport, preamp/dac, and power amps similiar to Nuforce(switching power supplies?).  I do not recommend the Lessloss for power supplies(such as my Lingo and Lehmann Black Cube SE).  The big change that I noticed between the Nuforce V2 pc's and the Lessloss was that each cd is now entirely different from other cd's, and elimination of any hint of electronic reproduction(in the usual sense of those words).

Couldn't agree more! I have recently bought four LessLoss Dynamic Filtering Power Cords, and they really make my setup shine like never before. I use NuForce Ref9SEV2 amps, a Rega Saturn CDP and Nuforce P9 Pre. All show an incredible improvement compared to the previous situation with Analog Research Silver Raincoat Reference Power Cords. With the LessLoss, everything is much more natural, blacker backgrounds, better micro details, even lower lows and higher highs, but without the digital disease. LessLoss is an excellent upgrade, especially with their pricing and great customer service!

Yes, the Lessloss cords are great, and a great value.  They show that Valhalla cords are a little lean in comparison.  The Lessloss's purify and clean the signal without any leanness.  They also present a more vivid image.  The only downside in this comparison is the Valhalla's sound just a touch more refined, but is this due to a little leaning out of the sound?  I am still sorting this out...
And this is comparing a ~$650 cord to a $3000 cord!

Don't worry ajzepp, you were not being too subtle  - I know exactly what you were saying.

Comparisons with $3000 pc's do not make it a bargain, it just demonstrates that some  people  are prepared to pay ludicrous and disproportionate sums for what is, in the final analysis, an accessory.

Studley, I had no idea there were even PCs that cost six hundred bucks, let alone 3k! lol

I have two Lessloss PC's in my system:
A regular 15 amp version for my Modwright Transporter and a 20 amp version for my amp, they do a great job in lowering the noise floor and increasing the overall resolution.

The Oyaide connectors they use are not cheap, so at the $600 price level they're not too over priced.  Once they go to the $750 level then this exceeds my pain level, but this is just a personal perjudice I have.  I also have a Zu Mother PC (top of the range) which is half the price and Zu claim is  'the best there is' - guess I need to compare it with the Lessloss one day and find out.

In the meantime I would recommend jumping on the Lessloss while they're reasonably priced.

I would be curious myself to hear any comments of Lessloss's new product, the Firewall power conditioner. At $4995, I don't expect too many owner reviews will be forthcoming but with all the positive reviews Lessloss has accumulated, especially with digital gear I can't help to be curious. Unfortunately there's not much detailed info on the makeup of this new power conditioner. Lessloss's website contains numerous pages of hyperbole doubletalk with many pretty pictures that have absolutely nothing to do with the conditioner. Needless to say I was disappointed. http://www.lessloss.com/lessloss-firewall-power-distributor-p-196.html Not the first time Lessloss has disappointed me as I finally got to listen to a Lessloss power cord in Paul Kaplan's (Occam) system at his latest NY RAVE during a power cord shootoff and I came away unimpressed myself,,,, other did like it tho. I listened to the Lessloss, both thru the wall socket, then thru Paul's power conditioner and as much as I had anticipated hearing this power cord, it didn't live up to it's hype for me. But that was 1 system, 1 time with the power cord so I'm in no way dismissing it. Another day, another system and it could very well shine like the North Star on Christmas eve. :thumb:

Robin
