Anyone ever try this power cord?
« on: 27 Jun 2008, 11:40 pm »
I was just reading about the Absolute power cord MkII on the GTT Audio & Video website. The price is definitely right. Any have any experience with it?

I just replaced that cord [original version I think. I bought it 4 years ago] with a Alan Maher reference power cord and the improvement is mind boggeling. Price $175 vs $50

Sony S9000ES SACD/DVD player modded to level 6 by VSE. I also replaced the stock power cord on my Rotel 1090 380w/ch power supply with the reference power cord.

DO you think the Shatki or whatever EMI treatment was on the cord did the trick?

I don't know. I don't think there is a shakti with this brand new reference cord. They do have  high end connectors. The cord is really 2 cords and they have a proprietary treatment called PRT. I'm sure there is a lot more to it. You could re-ask your question of Jen Maher at the industry talk forum. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=45312.msg503705#new

Big Red Machine, I checked with Jen Maher. There is no Shakti. The reference power cord geometry does not fit with the on line shakti. Instead they terminated the wires using quick silver gold [QSG].

I use Alan Maher's Studio Reference PC but am struggling to achieve results! I used it on my amplifier, my CDP, tuner, PSU and am still trying to achieve the claimed results. In fairness, I think the cords are supposed to complement Alan Maher's other devices, the Power Enhancers in particular. I am afraid I don't have that kind of patience to experiment with PEs (not one but multiple, mind you!) and would prefer a simple plug-in cord that is supposed to work essentially from the word "go". In the end I settled for John of Black Sand Cables' Statement One, which after quite a **long** break-in period rewarded me with substantial improvements. I would like to add a caveat, if I may, that power cords and interconnects are very system dependant (unfortunately which makes life more difficult but the challenge more rewarding when you hit the right one!). I guess the Studio Reference PC just did not work for me!

Best Regards

Hi mca

I am using the Statement One on my amplifier! I am still experimenting with the Maher Studio Ref PC which is now powering my Paul Hynes' PSU for the SB3.
