LS6 Bass Management

Danny:

Could you go over exactly what the bass adjustments on the LS6 crossover do? Is it just varying amounts of bass boost with each setting? Those Small Med etc correspond to room sizes? Any rule of thumb with them?

Thanks

The bass management system allows for attenuation of the bass output from about 35Hz to 100Hz centered at 70Hz. The references to room sizes should give you a good starting point. Where you decide to leave that setting depends on your room gain levels, and your preference. You'll have to listen for yourself and decide what setting is best for you.

So then what setting would be flat? How many db does each setting change output? You said it allows for "attenuation", so does that mean it only cuts the amount of output from flat(no boost)?

That depends. If you took them outside or put them in a huge room then it would be flat with no bass management engaged. However, as soon as you put a large powerful speaker like that into a room you get room gain. It is typically in the 35Hz to 100Hz region.

I have not measured how many db per change. Measuring accuracy in that low of a frequency range outside an anechoic chamber is spotty at best.

Yes, attenuation means to turn it down. There is no boosting anything with a passive network.
