to Cryo or not to cryo...
« on: 27 Jun 2008, 05:55 pm »
I just got some HBL 8200HW receptacles to have cyo'd.  My question is has anyone test the before/after effects on tubes & power cords?  My cryo guy does it all the time but I would like to hear what you guys have heard sonically.

Thanks-

btw-I trust my guy 100% as I use him through work and we NEVER have a problem

Who do you use? I'm looking to have a couple cables done?

Virtually everything I've ever cryo'd (tubes, cables, pc boards, connectors) always sounds more "relaxed" and a bit smoother or perhaps more "fluid" sounding. If there is any change in the soundstaging (as compared to what is sounded like before the cryo treatment) the change always results in a larger soundstage.

I use cryo a lot but the late Bob Crump did some critical listening to his cords both ways and preferred them not cryoed. He claimed the while the noise floor was lower on the cryo version, it lost stage critical information. I guess the best solution is to contact the manufacture first. I would guess most of already done the critical listening to before/after items?
