Maybe Concilio for bringing together or win over.

Or my two favorites, Spiritas for breathing, life, spririt, and Cupiditas for party spirit.

Windchaser Page 9... And Page 5 below... And page 12

Thanks for all the help so far with names, people.  Please keep the ideas coming.

So far, the names I kind of like best (in no particular order) are Aurora, Stellar, Euphoria, Genesis, Nebula, and Revolution.  Of course I am still kind of hung up on Ultimate but need more help to get it past the others here. Lot of star-like names here, but that is not necessary of course.

Question:  Any research you people can provide as to what names (especially those listed above) are already in use in the audio industry would be helpful.  Like, I am not going to use Zeneth, an old US TV brand.

I would like names easy to pronounce (not another Transcendence - you can't believe how that has been butchered (try "trans and dance" for example).  Names that have a nice pleasant pleasing sound (not Aardvark or Warmonger), names that don't imply a negative (Novas blow up a lot you know), and names easy to remember (not another Sony XBR6251A-XLQa4 or whatever).

Remember we are shipping the new circuits in OmegaStar preamps and DACs right now at the old prices.  You can be the first on your block to experience something completely different.

Keep the suggestions coming, and thank you all so much for your interest.  And remember an argument that convinces my guys to go along with Ultimate can win the naming contest too.

Best regards,

Frank Van Alstine

Hi:

Glad to see some people are thinking "out side of the box" of names that simply describe the sound.  The future product name does not necessarily need to follow the Greek history, reference any past product, or describe a specific characteristic.  Also, we really don't want to use a name of another product (Zenith, Nova, etc.).  We are looking for a unique name.

So for unique name we so far have the "Wayner," the "Van Alstinator," the "The Van Alstine FULL TILT BONZO series," and the "FBF series" (or in my case, the FGF series for Fat, Grey and Fifty-some).  While all unique names, probably not what we will use.

Keep the ideas coming!!!

Gee, Veraticy seems like a really great name, wonder where I might have heard that before?

Do you think Jim Salk might mind?

Regards,

Frank

P.S.  Thanks Undertow for eliminating a few names already in use.

So folks, what do you think of "Euphoria"?  That is indeed where the new equipment will put you.  Just asking, no final determination yet.
Got my head down designing new circuit boards right now.

It is lunch time and time for me to add to this thread.
I don't think the following has been offered:

Velox - "quick"

Evidens - "clear/evident"

Magnasanus - "Great sound"

Aetus - "stage"

Phasma - "soul/spirit"

Going along with the Ultimate, the next one could be:

VERILY ULTIMATE  - Verily means truly - truly ultimate.

"Aperio"  How do you pronounce it?  "A-per-o"  or "A-per-e-o"  ??  Still searching.

I'm not sure if anyone has submitted this one:
Mystic--beyond human comprehension, having magic power, (and especially) filling one with wonder or awe
also:
Mithras or Mithra--Persian god of light and truth

Frank--

Here you go; I found it in an online latin dictionary:  "aperio aperire aperui apertum (1) [to uncover , lay bare]; hence in gen. [to reveal]. (2) [to open what was shut, open up]; 'ludum', [to open a school]; 'annum', [to begin the year]. Hence partic. apertus -a -um, (1) [uncovered, clear, unconcealed, manifest]; of speech, [clear, intelligible, frank]; of character, [frank, straightforward, open]. (2) [unclosed, accessible, exposed]. N. as subst., [an open space]. Adv. aperte, [openly, frankly]."

Vivid - so real you can see it, beyond an aural sensation.

I totally whiffed on my last post.  Salk already used Veracity so that's a no go.  Hey, I bought my Fet Valve preamp a decade ago, I like music more than I like equipment.

there is no big deal of using an existing name, however Frank specifically asked several times already in this thread to please research your name, and also please expose products already using them if you know.. So when I see ones I know exist I throw it out there as he asked, not me...

They might chose to use an existing product name, who knows, but I believe its more about who they have the correlation with if they do use one out there on a product already.. I can agree with that, plus confusion can occur and at least it is understood why upfront.

All the Latin names have been used before thousands of years ago, therefore not qualified.

Back to square one, we should be more specific about what laugage base the name should be, which Frank did not do. How about Chinese, the Yin Yan series.
