Hey!

Oh! I see. From the headline I thought we were talking about Mike/mcullinan :jester:

Anyway, yup some audiophiles really have gone the extra miles when is come to these stuff. :D Wonder how they sound

One thing I've learn over the years in this crazy audio world is that price tag doesn't guaranteed you good sound even with the high priced one

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

So he replaced his Kharma Exquisite Reference (>$100k) speakers with a Soundlab A1 ($25k)???

I don't think he will ever be completely satisfied with what he has...

I recalled reading this forum trashing Kharma speakers..

Its not a crime to have money or to spend it any way you want to. Do remember you can't take it with when you go to the Hi-Fi room in the sky. Audiophiles with money are not the only ones who have gone wild. Ask the guy who has a Sedan, Sport, SUV and Pickup.

Looks like a tripping hazard!  And maybe some stubbed toes.  Aside from the ugly nest of cables and ceramic doodads it looks pretty cool.

  Frank

"When you have a high powered sound system like this, one of the difficult problems to solve is to keep from blowing out 169 speakers at once. ..The protection system has a total of 34 channels, each of which measures the amplifier power output, computes the voice coil temperture and disconnects its speaker with a relay before the voice coil gets too hot... In over a year of operation there has been no damage to any of the speakers. "

But he doesn't mention damage to his hearing.
Wonder if he wears ear plugs while listening like some musicians do while playing.

AliG, I can't make sense of anything said on the goodsound website you mentioned...it is a pretty funny read though.  There is lots of words, but not much said from what I can tell...

I have to say, though I love audio it like anything else is subject to excess and fanatacism which these systems seem to fall into.

I once saw fanaticism defined as "characterized by the re-doubling of effort after the original goal has been forgotten"

This:  http://blog.audiovideointeriors.com/208great/ would seem to be a textbook example of that!

To refer back to the original post, this is the Kharma system I would want - it is straightforward, two channel, and the numbers are right. 100 dB/W at 5 meters, and 100,000 watts handling capacity - could work as a second system for the office:  The money saved in amplifiers could almost pay for this:
