Music Servers and Copy-Protected Discs

I searched but did not find an answer.  I saw a disc on Amazon advertised as
[CONTENT/COPY-PROTECTED CD].

Does that mean I would not be able to read it with a CD/DVD drive and save it as a .wav file?

I've come across a few cd's that can't be copied to hard drive. I suspect they are the ones with the imbedded Sony code. There use to be a list I don't recall the name that you could check to see if cd was on the list. If I recall I have one such disc, the other discs weren't on the list though.

I also come across one disc that can be copied but the copy is inferior in sound quality to the original.

With my standalone burner the vast majority of cds can be copied. However some will have glitches on the last track for some reason.

I could check to see if previous uncopied disc can be saved to HD once copied. But I don't want the Sony code on my computer.

If you're running Windows disabling auto play for your CD drives will defeat most of the foul copy protection as many of them use a memory resident program to prevent you from grabbing the data you paid for.
