As I promised last Monday evening, I've posted a mini-review of my comparison of the Von Schweikert VR-4 Gen III SE and the VMPS RM40 in the Critics circle. The link is:

swg255, thanks for the post and welcome to the club.
By the way, rm40s do sound similar to Maggie 1.6s in the way they throw up an image, size and speed . I've had them in same room with same system. Although the 40s now better them in most every way.
Any ways, enjoy, you won't regret it

AudioChef,
Aside from imaging & soundstaging, are the Maggies sonically similar in all ways to the VMPS?.....

No,1.6s lack warmth and are'nt as extended  in frequency extremes.

They also don't do microdynamics and macrodynamics as well.  JMHO.

The imgaes lack density on the Maggies, & of course forget the dynamics, at least compared to Big Bs better boxes.

A great review, & well written.  Many thanks.  Megadittos from me.  At CES '03 I sat down & listened to a great version of Beethoven's 9th symphony final movement on VSs best smaller floorstanders.  I must say, if not for Brian, I'd be extremely happy with the VS gear.  BTW in converstions with me Brian has conferred much respect for Albert.  The VS image great & are highly musical.  It's just that Bs stuff is better in every way, except of course the smaller VS gear fits better in most rooms, but we all know how much us fanatics care about looks vs. performance :D .

You either love or hate maggies.   Its dipoles vs monopoles, so apples and oranges IMO.

If I'm not mistaken AJerry has owned the Maggies 3.6 and Vmps RM2, and he preferred the 3.6.  But there are just as many that feel the oposite.

Personally, some things I think the Maggies do better than anything else, but their faults can be hard to live with.
