Monarchy AC Regenerator - It works!!
« on: 7 Jun 2008, 12:00 am »
I've had this thing for 30 minutes now and I am amazed.  I was expecting it to be ho-hum and subtle, but the difference is incredible:  more bass, more db impact at my same volume level setting, way more detail and air around instruments, just intense!

I have my MW 36.5 plugged into it with a Lessloss PC and the Monarchy is plugged into the wall with an Iego base PC.

The Monarchy is noisy I will warn you.  It has a fan that pulls air in the back to cool the electronics along its right side and blows it out the top vents.  The fan is noisy, but of course right now I cannot hear it.

I have it set to 120 volts and 60 Hz due to Dan's comments about the voltage and phase concerns in the 36.5 thread.  Right now I can;t see a need to experiment with anything else.

The bass is stronger than is has ever been.  This is really neat.  Let's see if I feel the same tomorrow.  I thought for sure I would return it for a 15% restock fee.  I wonder what it would do for a tube amp??

I'm going to try the unit some time today with some rubber grommets on the fan mount to see if it gets quieter.  Stay tuned.

Works great!  I put rubber grommets in place of the plastic inserts CC had on the fan mounts and I had to mute the sound to hear the fan moving.  So that problem has been resolved and it looks like I'll be keeping this unit. :D

Great thread, i wanted to buy this without even hearing it but did not have the cabinet/shelf space ....the rubber grommet thing sounds like something you may want to tell cc poon about. Seems like something very positive and low on the cost issue. Maybe he could make it standard....

When i move out of my apt next year, i will be taking the regen for a spin.

I have an email in to him so I am gueesing Monday he will respond.

The M150 looks interesting as well as it handles 2000 watts of power and has much larger transformers.  But it does not have the variable voltage and frequency.

It really is amazing how this things cleans up the sound and I thought I had clean power.  The Haley didn't touch anything IMO compared to this unit.  Sold the Haley last week.  For the other electronics I bought a Brickwall unit for surge protection.  I also have an Audience aR1p unit coming to try on the amp line.

Pete,

Glad this is working out well for you.

In my systems, I have preferred the RSA Haley to PS Audio and ExactPower regenerators as well as BPT, Richard Gray, Audience, etc...

Has anybody here tried the Walker Velocitor?  I'm interested in either the Velocitor or one of the RSA units, assuming both would be fine with both sources and high powered amps plugged into them (nothing crazy, 200-500wpc).

I also have an RSA unit.  I didn't notice much difference with it in the system.
